Coach Dan Cimini

Dan Cimini has been the Head Baseball Coach at University Liggett School since 2004. He has compiled a career record of 357 wins and 79 losses while leading the Knights to four State Championships in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2016 with a state runner-up in 2012. Under Cimini, the Knights have won District Championships in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016; Regional Championships in 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016 and have been to four straight State Championship games from 2011-2014.

Coach Cimini graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School in 1987 where he helped lead the baseball program to its first ever Final Four appearance. He played baseball at Macomb Community College (1987-1989) and was offered a baseball scholarship to play at University of Detroit in 1989-1992. He has been named District Coach of the Year 12 times, Regional Coach of the Year 6 times and Division 4 Overall Coach of the Year in the State of Michigan 3 times. He was also named 2014 and 2016 Division 3 Coach of the Year and 2014 Michigan Overall Coach of the Year. Cimini was named National Coach of the Year by Max Preps in 2016 and Midwest Regional Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association in 2008. Coach Cimini was recently selected to the Class of 2016 Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.


Coach Cimini has 3 children: Caitlyn, Celsey and Dominic. He teaches Middle School Physical Education, is the Middle School Athletic Director, and is also the Varsity Football coach at Liggett.
